Welcome to the ECC Book Group!

The Evergreen Christian Church book group reads a variety of scholarly, fiction, and non-fiction books. While we have a prospective list, the group is always open to new suggestions. Our sessions are conversational, and everyone is encouraged to comment and ask questions. We use books to stimulate discussions about spiritual and life issues in an open, safe, and judgement-free environment. Through conversation, we seek to understand the Old and New Testaments in the context in which they were written, stripped of some of the hurtful, guilt-filled theology that has developed over the years. We then discuss the relevance of those biblical messages and the books we read to our current lives and contexts. We also explore the commonalities and differences among the ethical principles and spiritual truths of the world's great religions.
